I've played RPGs for decades, starting with AD&D 1st and 2nd Edition. After ten years of collecting notes from my solo adventures, I’m finally ready to share them. My early experiences with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons helped me develop a deep love for game mechanics, storytelling, and worldbuilding.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is a space where I’ll document my solo gameplay reports using Basic Fantasy RPG, along with mechanics I’ve developed for encounters, LitRPG stats, travel, and character progression. I also want to explore worldbuilding techniques and ways to make solo play more immersive and dynamic.

I’ll be sharing my solo RPG sessions, how I structure challenges and mechanics, and different approaches to integrating LitRPG stats, travel mechanics, and character progression into solo play. Some posts will be personal reflections on my experiences, while others will provide insights and practical tips for fellow solo RPG players and worldbuilders.

Even though I primarily write to organize my own thoughts, I’d love to connect with others who enjoy these topics. If you have thoughts on game balance, NPC creation, or adapting RPG mechanics for solo play, feel free to share your ideas!

If solo RPGs, worldbuilding, and creative game mechanics interest you, stick around—there’s plenty more to explore!

Oracle Yes or No Table (1d6)

When playing a solo RPG, you’ll often need to determine outcomes without a Game Master. The Oracle Table provides a structured way to answer yes-or-no questions with varying degrees of certainty.

  • Roll 1d6 to determine the likelihood of success or failure.

  • Results range from “Yes” (guaranteed success) to “No” (outright failure), with in-between results like “50/50” (unclear, roll again) or “Almost Certain” (yes, but with complications).

  • This adds depth and unpredictability to solo adventures, preventing overly predictable outcomes while allowing for flexible interpretation.

Use this table to decide everything from “Does the merchant have rare supplies?” to “Does the enemy notice me sneaking past?”—keeping gameplay dynamic!

Monster Reactions Table (2d6)

Not every creature is immediately hostile—some hesitate, negotiate, or even flee. The Monster Reaction Table helps solo players roleplay NPCs and creatures naturally.

  • Roll 2d6 to determine a creature’s response when first encountered.

  • Results range from “Immediate Attack” (hostile with no hesitation) to “Very Friendly” (offering aid or forming alliances).

  • Mid-range results like “Uncertain” (hesitation) or “Cautious/Friendly” (non-aggressive observation) allow for more nuanced encounters.

Instead of assuming every enemy fights to the death, this table encourages unexpected interactions, making solo play more engaging!

Difficulty Levels Table (1d20)

Not every challenge in a solo RPG is straightforward—this table provides a quick way to gauge task difficulty.

  • Roll 1d20 to determine if an action is trivial (Very Easy, 1-6) or nearly impossible (19-20).

  • Results reflect effort needed: Moderate (9-10) requires skill or luck, while Difficult (13-14) needs planning and resources.

  • The “Not Possible” result means a task is beyond the character’s current ability—forcing creativity or alternative solutions.

This system adds risk assessment and realism to solo play, ensuring tasks are challenging but fair.

Whether assigning the color of an enchanted aura, a character’s clothing, or an unusual natural phenomenon, this table adds a layer of spontaneous creativity to your game.

The Journey Begins

I’m starting this journey here on as a way to finally share my thoughts and experiments with others who enjoy solo RPGs, worldbuilding, and creative mechanics. If any of this interests you, stick around—there’s more to come!
